PROSPER, Texas — Dallas Cowboys defensive back Markquese Bell was arrested Friday night in Prosper on drug-related charges following a traffic stop, according to police records and authorities.
The Prosper Police Department said officers stopped a vehicle around 10 p.m. near Prosper Trail and the Dallas Parkway after detecting the odor of marijuana. Officers conducted a probable cause search and found less than two ounces of marijuana and a THC e-cigarette, police said.
Bell, 27, of Celina, was arrested on one count of marijuana possession and one felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, according to police.
As of Saturday afternoon, Bell remained in custody at the Collin County Jail, according to the jail’s online records. Officials said he had completed a magistration hearing.
A Dallas Cowboys spokesperson said the team is aware of the arrest but declined to comment further.
Bell signed a three-year contract extension with the Cowboys worth approximately $9 million and appeared in all 17 games last season, recording 41 combined tackles and his first career interception.
He entered the NFL in 2022 as an undrafted free agent and has gradually increased his role with the team over the past three seasons.
