Marcos speaks with German chancellor on expanding partnership

MANILA, Philippines–President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a phone conversation on Thursday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Germany.

The discussion focused on enhancing defense and economic partnerships, as well as collaborating on regional matters to create more opportunities for both nations’ citizens.

President Marcos thanked Chancellor Merz for the renewed invitation to visit Germany.

In March 2024, Marcos conducted a three-day official visit to Berlin, where he took part in multiple engagements aimed at deepening ties between the two countries.
