HOUSTON, Texas– Law enforcement apprehended a suspect following an attempted ATM burglary and an assault on a deputy from Harris County Precinct 4 on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at a business located on Memorial Chase Road near Old Louetta Road in Houston.

Officers arrived at the scene and observed several individuals attempting to break into an ATM. As officers intervened, the suspects fled in different directions.

Among them, Jalen Lewis, 24, entered a vehicle and reportedly accelerated toward a deputy constable who was securing the scene. Investigators later confirmed that Lewis aimed the vehicle at the deputy in an attempt to strike him.

The deputy avoided injury by running into a nearby ditch. Other officers detained Lewis on the scene. Despite setting a perimeter, authorities did not apprehend the other suspects involved in the burglary attempt.

Lewis now faces charges of aggravated assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, for using the vehicle as a weapon against the officer.

Officials from Harris County Precinct 4 have asked the public to follow updates via social media and to download the “C4 NOW” mobile application for real-time crime and arrest notifications.

The incident follows recent reports of increased criminal activity in the area, with law enforcement emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with authorities to reduce crime.

Authorities have released no additional information regarding the suspects still at large following the attempted ATM burglary. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to gather evidence and identify all parties involved.

This attempted ATM burglary and vehicle assault are part of a series of criminal incidents in the Houston area. Community members have expressed concerns over the frequency of such events, prompting increased patrols and preventive measures by local authorities.

Law enforcement encourages anyone with information related to the attempted ATM burglary to contact the Harris County Precinct 4 office.

The Harris County constable’s office continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates through official channels. Local businesses and residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help ensure continued safety and security in the area.
