A Katy man said he missed a FIFA World Cup match in Arlington after spending nearly $3,000 on tickets through StubHub that he said were not delivered until after the game had ended.
Alejandro Roman-Fernandez said he purchased four tickets in December as a Christmas gift for his family for the World Cup match between the Netherlands and Japan. He said the plan included a family trip to Arlington to attend the match and spend time together.
Roman-Fernandez said he repeatedly checked his phone as the match approached, waiting for the tickets to become available. On the morning of the game, he received a message stating that his ticket vendor was unable to secure the tickets in time, according to Roman-Fernandez.
He said he was instructed to select replacement tickets but found none available. He then told his family they would not be attending the match.
Roman-Fernandez said he later received a notification after the match had ended indicating that the tickets were available.
KHOU 11 contacted StubHub about the complaint. The company said it is reviewing impacted orders and providing support to affected customers.
Roman-Fernandez said the company later emailed him an apology and said his refund was being processed, along with a voucher for future purchases.
StubHub did not provide additional details about the ticket delay.
