Filipino moviegoers will see “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” extended edition in cinemas across the Philippines from January 23 to 25 as part of a limited nationwide theatrical run that marks a special anniversary presentation of the 2001 fantasy film.

Organizers will screen the extended cut of director Peter Jackson’s movie, which adapts J.R.R. Tolkien’s 1954 novel, in select theaters that participate in the three-day engagement.

The extended edition will present approximately 30 minutes of additional footage that did not appear in the original theatrical release.

The added material will bring the film’s total runtime to about three hours and 28 minutes for Philippine cinema audiences.

Distributors will offer the anniversary screenings as a standalone theatrical event separate from regular weekly releases.

Cinema operators will announce specific screening schedules, ticket prices and participating locations ahead of the January 23 opening date.

The limited engagement will feature the first installment of Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy in its extended version, which previously remained available primarily on home video and streaming formats.

The release will give local audiences an opportunity to watch the expanded cut on the big screen more than two decades after the film’s original 2001 theatrical debut.
