MANILA, Philippines — Actress Anne Curtis joined an anti-corruption protest at EDSA on Sept. 21, joining activists, public figures, and ordinary citizens in a collective call for transparency and accountability in government.
The protest, held at the historic EDSA site—long recognized for its role in previous people power movements—sought to raise awareness about corruption in the Philippines and advocate for clean governance.
Curtis, a Filipino-Australian celebrity known for her public advocacy, marched with demonstrators and urged Filipinos not to stay silent in the face of corruption.
“Now is not the time to be quiet,” she told reporters at the event. “We need to stand together and demand accountability.”
Protesters carried banners and chanted slogans denouncing corruption in various sectors of government. Police maintained a visible but non-confrontational presence to manage traffic and ensure order during the peaceful assembly.
Curtis’s participation marked a notable moment in the protest, as her involvement helped bring additional visibility to the movement. Organizers credited her presence with drawing more attention to the cause, particularly among younger Filipinos.
