Governor Greg Abbott faces increasing pressure from state legislators and Democratic leaders to set a date for a special election to fill the vacant seat of Texas’s 18th Congressional District.

The vacancy arose following the death of Rep. Sylvester Turner. The delay in scheduling the special election has caused unrest among political leaders who emphasize the need for representation for the district.

The seat for Texas’s 18th Congressional District became vacant after the passing of Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner.

State legislators and Democratic leaders have expressed concerns over the lack of representation for the constituents of the 18th District.

Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, is responsible for calling the special election, but as of now, he has not set a date for the vote.

Governor Abbott’s office has not provided a detailed explanation for the delay in scheduling the election.
