LeBron James has tied an NBA record for most regular-season games played, matching Robert Parish at 1,611 games.
James reached the milestone after starting for the Los Angeles Lakers in their win over the Miami Heat. At 41, he also delivered a triple-double performance with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, helping extend the Lakers’ winning streak.
Parish, known as “The Chief,” had held the record for nearly 30 years. Now, James adds another achievement to his already historic career, where he also leads in total points, minutes played, and several other categories.
Lakers coach JJ Redick praised James for his discipline and sense of responsibility as one of the game’s all-time greats, while Heat coach Erik Spoelstra highlighted his competitiveness, saying he continues to defy age.
Despite fatigue from travel and a minor injury concern, James chose to play and help his team win. He also acknowledged Miami as a special place in his career, where he won two of his four NBA championships.
With this milestone, James is expected to soon stand alone at the top of the all-time games played list.
