“KPop Demon Hunters” has become Netflix’s most popular film ever, amassing 236 million views within its first 90 days of release, surpassing the 2021 hit “Red Notice,” the streaming giant announced, with three weeks still left for the animated movie to extend its lead.

KPop Demon Hunters has achieved a historic feat on Netflix, officially becoming the most-watched film ever distributed on the streaming platform. Based on Netflix’s measurement of total views within the first 90 days of release, the animated feature has drawn an astounding 236 million views, unseating 2021’s action-comedy Red Notice (230.9 million views) as the top-ranked English-language original. Remarkably, the film still has about three weeks left in its 90-day measurement period, giving it room to widen its lead further.

While Red Notice and Don’t Look Up remain the leaders in total hours viewed—both surpassing 400 million—the shorter runtime of KPop Demon Hunters (1 hour and 40 minutes) makes its record-breaking performance even more impressive. Earlier this year, the film had already set the record as Netflix’s most-watched animated movie.

Its momentum has extended beyond streaming. A special sing-along edition topped the North American box office on its release weekend, later debuting on Netflix to further boost its viewership. At the same time, the film’s soundtrack is dominating music charts.

Given this surge in popularity, Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are already in early talks for a sequel. The animated adventure follows a fictional K-pop girl group who double as demon hunters, battling a rival boy band revealed to be demons themselves.
