MANILA, Philippines –Kevin Quiambao led Gilas Pilipinas to a crucial victory against host Saudi Arabia in overtime at the FIBA Asia Cup, securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

Quiambao, the youngest player on the team, demonstrated remarkable composure and skill, delivering decisive shots and making strategic plays that contributed significantly to the team’s success.

Gilas Pilipinas faced the challenge of playing without two key players, yet Quiambao’s performance exemplified the team’s resilience and adaptability.

The match ended with Gilas outscoring Saudi Arabia 16-9 in overtime, marking a significant win for the Filipino team after missing the final eight in previous years.

Coach Tim Cone praised Quiambao for stepping up in critical moments, highlighting his ability to perform under pressure.

Quiambao’s final stats included 17 points, four rebounds, and two assists, showcasing his impact in just over 16 minutes of play.

The Gilas Pilipinas squad now prepares to face their next opponent in the quarterfinals, with hopes of advancing further in the competition.

The team’s performance against Saudi Arabia has raised expectations for their potential success in the upcoming matches.

With the spotlight on Quiambao and his teammates, Gilas Pilipinas remains committed to achieving their goals in the FIBA Asia Cup.
