MUNICH — Bayern Munich midfielder Lennart Karl said Sunday that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid in the future, though he stressed that he currently values his time with Bayern.

The 17-year-old, who became Bayern’s youngest Champions League scorer in October, made the comment during a question-and-answer session with fans, a traditional New Year event for the club.

“Karl said Bayern is a very big club and a dream to play for, but someday I’d definitely like to go to Real Madrid. That’s my dream club,” Sky Sport Germany reported. He added that Bayern remains “very, very special” and fun to play for.

Karl, a product of Bayern’s youth academy, made his first-team debut in June at the Club World Cup and has scored six goals in 22 appearances this season. His remarks drew mixed reactions, with fans in attendance laughing while some online supporters questioned his loyalty.
