A California judge dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by musician Jay-Z against Houston attorney Tony Buzbee.

Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, submitted an appeal to the ruling in California.

Carter initiated the lawsuit in November against Buzbee.

A few weeks later, Buzbee filed a federal lawsuit in New York accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of committing rape against a 13-year-old in 2000.

The New York case was dismissed in February when the alleged victim withdrew her lawsuit.
