MANILA, Philippines– The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has announced the selection of players for the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team, set to compete in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December.

Jia De Guzman, the team’s captain and setter, leads the roster alongside fellow setters Mars Alba and Julia Coronel, and liberos Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Jen Nierva, and Justine Jazareno.

The announcement aims to address the country’s gold medal drought in women’s volleyball, which dates back to 1993.

Selected players come from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

Training sessions will commence from November 15 to 30. The Philippine Olympic Committee highlights the need for cooperation and unity to ensure the team’s success.
