MANILA, Philippines– Jia De Guzman, captain of the Philippine national volleyball team, is preparing to lead Alas Pilipinas after completing her season in Japan.

She recently finished her campaign with the Denso AiryBees in the Japan V.League, where the team placed fourth. Denso was eliminated in the semifinals by JT Marvelous, led by fellow Filipina Jaja Santiago.

After returning to the Philippines, De Guzman quickly rejoined the national team. As a veteran setter, she aims to guide the team while also learning from younger players.

De Guzman also attended the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball Finals in Manila, where National University won its second straight title.

Her experience playing abroad is expected to help Alas Pilipinas in upcoming international tournaments. De Guzman’s leadership, training, and exposure to high-level competition are seen as key strengths for the team.

She has been working closely with younger teammates to build unity and improve skills. De Guzman is committed to helping the team grow and succeed on the international stage.

Her return comes as the national team focuses on developing new strategies and improving its performance. Her presence is expected to boost the team’s confidence and support its goals in future competitions.

De Guzman continues to be a role model for young volleyball players in the Philippines, known for her discipline, teamwork, and dedication to the sport.
