MANILA — Quentin Millora-Brown will play for Gilas Pilipinas in the second window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers at home, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) confirmed Thursday, while Kai Sotto’s participation remains undecided.

Sources told the Inquirer that Sotto’s Japanese club, Koshigaya Alphas, approved him to join the national team, but his management team is holding off due to potential NBA opportunities.

Millora-Brown’s decision to join Gilas followed intervention by his father, Bryan Brown, who coordinated with his management team to confirm his availability. The SBP said Millora-Brown will be an active member of both the current and future national team programs.

Dwight Ramos, a member of the Gilas pool, said Millora-Brown’s presence adds height against New Zealand and Australia. Ramos is part of a roster that includes AJ Edu, Kevin Quiambao, Carl Tamayo, Justin Brownlee, June Mar Fajardo, Troy Rosario, Chris Newsome, CJ Perez, RJ Abarrientos, Juan Gomez de Liano, and Justine Baltazar.

The SBP said training will continue daily leading up to the matches scheduled against New Zealand on February 27 and Australia on March 2.
