MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported 23 Chinese nationals to China on Saturday, November 22, for alleged involvement in cyberfraud schemes and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO)-like activities, the agency said.
BI chief Alexi Val Arciaga said the deportees were placed under BI custody and their departure coordinated with Chinese authorities. The individuals were previously arrested in operations targeting cyberfraud and POGO-like violations.
Arciaga said the Chinese nationals had violated Philippine immigration laws and were also wanted in their home country. The BI issued deportation orders after completing administrative procedures and processed their travel documents before escorting them to the airport.
The deportees were placed on the Philippine blacklist to prevent their return. BI personnel monitored their departure and coordinated with airline representatives to ensure their transfer. The agency said the deportation followed existing immigration regulations and bilateral arrangements with China.
