Iga Swiatek, a three-time French Open champion, addressed the issue of gender disparity in night match scheduling at the French Open on Friday.

Swiatek stated that women’s matches should be considered equally in terms of entertainment value and scheduling. Her comments came after her third-round victory over Jaqueline Cristian.

Tournament director Amelie Mauresmo previously responded to the issue, rejecting suggestions that current scheduling implies women are not suitable for prime-time slots.

Swiatek emphasized the importance of equal treatment for women’s matches in scheduling decisions but expressed reluctance to engage further in the ongoing debate.

The topic of scheduling equality remains under discussion within the tennis community. Swiatek has previously spoken about the importance of fairness in the sport.
