AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is advancing its I-35 Capital Express Central Project, which involves the demolition of the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard bridge.

The I-35 corridor in Austin is known for its heavy traffic, affecting thousands of commuters daily.

The Capital Express Central Project aims to alleviate these traffic woes by expanding the highway and upgrading infrastructure.

The project has been in planning for several years, with TxDOT conducting numerous studies and public consultations to determine the best course of action.

The I-35 Capital Express Central Project is part of a larger effort to modernize transportation infrastructure across Texas. As one of the state’s busiest highways, I-35 is a vital artery for commerce and travel.

The expansion aims to improve safety and efficiency, catering to the growing population and the increasing volume of vehicles on the road.
