HOUSTON, Texas — A Houston-area criminal defense attorney said rising gasoline prices have increased costs for her commute and law practice, prompting her to shift employees to a hybrid work schedule.
Bianca Santorini, who operates a 10-person criminal defense law firm, said she travels hundreds of miles each week for court appearances, client meetings, and depositions.
She said gasoline prices rose by more than $1 per gallon over a two-month period, increasing transportation expenses for both her and her staff.
Santorini said employees also reported financial strain due to commuting costs.
She implemented a hybrid schedule that allows staff to work from home two days per week and said she may expand remote work in the future.
She said the change aims to reduce transportation expenses while maintaining office operations.
Santorini said she hopes other employers consider flexible work arrangements as fuel prices remain high.
