MANILA, Philippines– The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution to honor the late actress Gloria Romero, widely regarded as the “Queen of Philippine Cinema.”

House Resolution No. 2198, introduced by Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla and her sons Bryan Revilla and Ramon Jolo Revilla, was consolidated with a similar resolution from Quezon City Representative Juan Carlos.

The lawmakers expressed their condolences to Romero’s family during a plenary session and paid tribute to her significant contributions to the Philippine film and television industry.

Romero, who passed away at the age of 91, was a beloved figure in the entertainment world, known for her versatile acting career that spanned decades.

Throughout her career, Romero was admired for her ability to adapt to changing times and remain relevant in an evolving industry.

The resolution recognizes Romero’s lasting legacy in the cultural heritage of the Philippines, highlighting her contributions to the arts and her influence on the entertainment sector.

Lawmakers praised her professionalism, dedication to her craft, and her mentorship of younger actors, noting her positive impact on the industry.

Romero’s passing has prompted tributes from colleagues, fans, and public figures, including President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In a statement, the president acknowledged her influential career and expressed his condolences to her family, recognizing her as an inspiration to both the industry and the Filipino public.

Romero’s career began in the 1950s, and she remained an active figure in film and television throughout the decades.

She was known for her dynamic range as an actress, portraying a variety of roles in both genres.

Her work helped shape the landscape of Philippine cinema, and her legacy continues to inspire future generations of artists.
