Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed two bills in Midland to address oil theft and promote economic development in the Permian Basin.

The first bill increases penalties for oil theft, requires detailed documentation for oil transport and sales, and allocates resources for law enforcement training and coordination.

The second bill offers tax incentives for companies investing in infrastructure and job creation in the region. It also provides funding for workforce training programs.

State and local officials say the legislation aims to strengthen the region’s oil and gas industry and support long-term economic growth.
