AUSTIN, Texas– The Travis County Commissioners Court has approved a contract exceeding $11 million to support the construction of a new affordable housing development in Austin.

The funding will aid a local housing organization in delivering units targeted at families, individuals, and seniors with limited incomes.

The development, located within Austin city limits, will include access to public transportation and essential services. It is also expected to feature amenities and energy-efficient, environmentally conscious designs.

County officials emphasized that the project is part of a broader initiative to address the ongoing housing shortage in the region. The effort aligns with Travis County’s long-term strategy to expand housing accessibility and ensure affordability for a growing population.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with a multi-month timeline. Officials have pledged to maintain oversight and transparency throughout the development process.
