Freeport LNG Development, a leading natural gas export company, has reaffirmed its commitment to downtown Houston as a significant energy and business hub. The company has renewed and expanded its lease at Three Allen Center, located at 333 Clay Street. With this renewal, Freeport LNG will be adding 65,734 square feet to its office space. This marks an increase of 8,831 square feet from its current 59,903 square-foot space within the 50-story building that has been its home for over 20 years.

Travis Overall, Executive Vice President and Head of the Texas Region for Brookfield Properties’ office business, shared the company’s excitement in a statement. “Brookfield Properties is thrilled to announce that Freeport LNG Development has chosen not only to recommit but to expand their presence at Allen Center, a place they’ve proudly called home since 2002,” he commented, according to RealtyNewsReport.

Freeport LNG is a major player in the global natural gas industry, producing over 15 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually at its Freeport facility. This facility is notable for being the seventh-largest LNG facility in the world and the second-largest in the United States. The company operates three natural gas liquefaction trains and plans to add a fourth, which is currently under development.

Brookfield Properties, responsible for managing the building, completed extensive renovations at Two and Three Allen Center. The upgrades aimed to modernize the space and enhance amenities for tenants. Improvements included a new lobby, a second-floor outdoor terrace, and additional facilities like a gym and a bike room. Further, new escalators were installed to connect the street level to the second floor. The renovation project, which began in April 2019, was completed in 2021, as reported by the Houston Business Journal.
