DALLAS, Texas– A Fort Worth woman has been charged with murder after allegedly causing a fatal crash that killed her boyfriend, Miguel Moreno, 34, on February 15, 2025.

According to an arrest affidavit, Emily Garcia, 29, intentionally rammed her SUV into the car that her boyfriend Miguel Moreno, 34 was in, resulting in a fatal collision.

Surveillance footage and witnesses reported seeing a gold Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Garcia, pursuing and ramming a brown Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was carrying Moreno and his brother-in-law.

The Trailblazer lost control, struck a Nissan Sentra, and crashed into a utility pole in the 3400 block of Northeast 28th Street.

When first responders arrived, Moreno was pronounced dead at the scene, and his brother-in-law was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Witness video showed Moreno attempting to avoid Garcia’s erratic driving by ducking between cars in a parking lot.

Garcia allegedly followed him and crashed into the passenger side of the Trailblazer as Moreno’s brother-in-law came to pick him up.

Garcia continued to chase the Trailblazer, at times driving on the wrong side of the road, until the vehicle lost control and crashed.

Garcia was present when police arrived and initially claimed she had just found her unresponsive boyfriend.

However, after further questioning, she admitted to being in the Tahoe with Moreno prior to the crash and chasing him after an argument. Investigators found Garcia’s phone inside the vehicle and determined her statement about Moreno taking her phone was false.

Garcia was arrested and booked into the Tarrant County Corrections Center, where her bond was set at $250,000. She faces a murder charge in connection with Moreno’s death.

Moreno’s sister launched a GoFundMe to raise money for his funeral, remembering him as “the sweetest brother, uncle, cousin, and friend we ever had.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
