Fort Bend County, southwest of Houston, Texas, has enacted new restrictions on international travel expenses funded by county resources.

The county commissioners’ decision aims to prioritize local financial needs and ensure responsible spending.

The move follows findings from the county auditor, which reported $6,305.94 in international travel expenses since 2022.

These costs were primarily tied to elected judges attending conferences in Canada and Morocco.

The restriction, which does not completely ban international travel, sets stricter criteria for future county-funded trips.
