SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A former Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy and two healthcare workers have been arrested in connection with the alleged physical abuse of a 29-year-old non-verbal autistic man at a group home in Houston, authorities confirmed.
The arrests followed an investigation that began after the victim’s father installed a hidden camera in the group home due to concerns about unexplained injuries on his son. The footage reportedly captured incidents of physical mistreatment by staff members.
The former deputy, whose name has not been publicly released, had separated from the sheriff’s office before the allegations emerged. The two other suspects were employed as healthcare workers at the facility.
All three individuals face charges related to assault and abuse. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident and is coordinating with relevant law enforcement agencies.
The group home has initiated an internal review and stated that it is cooperating fully with authorities. No further details have been released regarding the facility or its policies.
