DENTON COUNTY, Texas — A small aircraft crashed Friday evening near Propwash Airport in Denton County, leaving the pilot as the sole occupant on board.

The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. near 15663 Cessna Road, just outside the city limits of Justin, according to the Justin Fire Department.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene following reports of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that only the pilot was aboard the aircraft, a 2019 Saberwing Lightsport model. The identity of the pilot has not yet been released.

Authorities secured the crash site to support the investigation, which is being conducted by both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud noise and seeing smoke near the site shortly after the crash. Officials urged the public to avoid the area to allow investigators to conduct their work safely and without disruption.

The FAA stated that preliminary findings would be released following the initial phase of the investigation. The NTSB will analyze factors such as the aircraft’s maintenance records, the pilot’s flight history, and weather conditions at the time of the crash.
