WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Education announced the release of $6 billion in previously withheld education grants following a policy review by the Trump administration.

The withheld funds, initially paused to assess alignment with federal priorities, were designated for essential programs including adult literacy, after-school services, and English language instruction.

The department stated that the review aimed to ensure that funding supported goals such as innovation in teaching and improved student outcomes.

Funds will be distributed in the coming weeks according to a schedule outlined by the department. School officials welcomed the decision, citing the need for stable resources to support learning programs and student development.

The Department of Education reaffirmed its commitment to financial oversight and effective use of federal resources. Officials noted that the review process is part of broader efforts to align educational investments with long-term policy goals.
