A Texas man suspected in a triple homicide is hospitalized after a crash and apparent suicide attempt in Ennis. Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher Kyle Reid Jr., 29, of Hubbard.

He is accused of killing three people in the Cedar Creek Cove subdivision in Mabank before fleeing the scene.

Reid drove to a Buc-ee’s in Ennis, where he hit a pedestrian with his vehicle. Soon after, he shot himself. First responders treated both Reid and the pedestrian.

Reid was taken to a hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ennis Police Department and Texas Rangers are investigating the Mabank killings and the sequence of events at Buc-ee’s. Police have not released the names of the three people killed or a possible motive. Investigators are reviewing any links between Reid and the victims.

Residents in Mabank and Ennis expressed concern after the incidents. Local officials said mental health support is available for those affected.

Reid remains under medical care and under guard. His legal status will depend on his recovery and findings from the investigation. Authorities plan to release more information as it is confirmed and urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
