DOJ endorses plunder case vs Jinggoy Estrada, Ombudsman reveals

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman on Monday confirmed that the Department of Justice has recommended the filing of a plunder case against Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada in connection with the controversy involving government flood control projects.

During a press briefing, Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said the recommendation was contained in a resolution issued by the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service.

“The primary respondents named in the resolution of the DOJ include Senator Jose ‘Jinggoy’ Ejercito Estrada,” Clavano said.

Further details regarding the allegations and the specific projects involved were not immediately disclosed during the briefing.

As of posting time, Estrada had yet to issue a statement regarding the DOJ recommendation.
