KERR COUNTY, Texas — A dog belonging to a Lewisville couple who went missing during the recent Texas floods was safely returned to a family member, according to a local animal rescue organization.

Jeff and Tanya Ramsey were staying at the HTR Campground along the Guadalupe River when the flooding occurred around the Fourth of July holiday. Emergency crews later recovered the body of Tanya Ramsey. Jeff Ramsey remains missing.

Kerrville Pets Alive!, a local animal rescue group, located the dog and confirmed its safe return to the family. A spokesperson for the organization said the recovery offered a small measure of comfort to the family during an ongoing tragedy.

Floodwaters in the area rose rapidly, impacting communities and campsites near the river. Emergency crews continue search and rescue efforts for missing individuals, including Jeff Ramsey.

Family members of the couple described them as frequent visitors to the river and shared that they had contacted loved ones shortly before the flooding began, warning them to evacuate.

Eric Steele, Jeff Ramsey’s brother-in-law, confirmed the identity of Tanya’s remains and said the family is working with rescue teams in the search for Jeff. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the public and emergency responders.

Authorities have urged residents and visitors near flood-prone areas to remain cautious and alert to changing weather and water conditions. Officials continue to request any information related to the missing to be reported to local authorities.

The Texas floods have left several communities assessing damages and beginning recovery efforts. Relief organizations and local shelters are assisting affected families as cleanup and search operations continue.
