PARIS, France — Novak Djokovic will return to competition at the Cincinnati Masters on Aug. 13-23, nearly a month after the former world No. 1 lost to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon semifinals.
The 39-year-old Serbian confirmed his participation in the tournament on Thursday, marking his first appearance in Cincinnati since winning the title in 2023.
“I am very happy to announce that I will be in Cincinnati this year, for the first time since 2023,” Djokovic said in a statement posted on the tournament’s social media accounts.
Djokovic, currently ranked No. 5 in the world, said he looked forward to returning to the tournament and playing in front of its fans.
The Cincinnati field also includes Sinner, the Wimbledon champion and current world No. 1, as well as world No. 2 Alexander Zverev and No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz has been managing a wrist injury since April.
Djokovic is also expected to compete at the US Open, scheduled for Aug. 30 to Sept. 13, where he will seek a record-extending 25th Grand Slam singles title.
