DALLAS — A sinkhole estimated at 20 feet deep has formed near White Rock Lake, prompting city officials to temporarily close a section of the trail.
The hole, caused by a compromised sewer line, was first spotted by a jogger who shared photos on social media. Dallas Water Utilities confirmed the area is stabilized but remains closed while city departments investigate the cause and inspect the surrounding area, particularly following recent rains.
“A portion of White Rock Lake Trail is temporarily closed while City departments investigate and assess a sinkhole found near the trail in between Garland Road and the trail,” the department said. “The public is advised to avoid the area and follow all safety signage. An update will be provided on the next steps to reopening the trail when the assessment has been completed.”
Officials urge residents and visitors to stay clear of the affected section until further notice.
