MANILA, Philippines — The Creamline Cool Smashers won their 11th championship after defeating the Cignal Super Spikers in the PVL All-Filipino Conference finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, completing a five-set victory in Game 2 of the series.

Creamline secured the title with a 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 16-25, 15-11 win, finishing the match on a block by Tots Carlos that stopped Cignal’s Vanie Gandler at championship point.

Setter Jia De Guzman returned to the league finals after two seasons in Japan with Denso AiryBees and said each title run carried different challenges.

Bernadeth Pons and Jema Galanza played key roles in the championship run after returning from injuries and international competition absences earlier in the conference.

Galanza said the title run included victories over teams that had previously defeated Creamline, noting the team’s path through the playoffs before reaching the finals.

Creamline finished the eliminations with a 6-3 record and advanced through the qualifying rounds after overcoming elimination threats to secure a spot in the Final Four.

The championship marked the team’s latest title in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
