FRISCO, Texas – Dallas Cowboys cornerback Caelen Carson will be sidelined for four to six weeks after suffering a hyperextended knee during practice on Monday.
The team confirmed the injury on Tuesday, noting that Carson’s condition adds to a growing list of injuries sustained during training camp.
Carson, a second-year player, had been competing for increased defensive snaps before the injury.
Also confirmed was the injury to left tackle Tyler Guyton, who sustained a knee fracture. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Guyton, like Carson, is in his second year with the team and had been projected as a key piece on the offensive line.
Offensive lineman Rob Jones is also dealing with a broken bone in his neck. His estimated recovery time is two to three months.
The Cowboys’ defensive unit is already without Trevon Diggs, who is recovering from knee surgery. No timetable has been provided for Diggs’ return.
The team continues to evaluate available options and adjust depth charts in response to the injuries.
Coaches are assessing other players to fill roles temporarily vacated by Carson, Guyton, and Jones.
The Cowboys will monitor recovery progress while continuing preparations for the upcoming season.
