A cold front brought strong winds to the Houston region early Monday, causing power outages that left nearly 35,000 homes and businesses without electricity as of 8 a.m., according to CenterPoint Energy’s online outage tracker.

CenterPoint Energy reported that the outages affected customers across multiple neighborhoods in the Houston metropolitan area.

The company’s outage tracker showed fluctuating numbers through the morning as crews worked to restore power to impacted locations.

CenterPoint Energy stated that wind gusts associated with the cold front contributed to damage on parts of the electrical distribution system.

The utility deployed repair crews to assess damage, remove debris, and restore service to affected circuits.

CenterPoint Energy advised customers to monitor its online outage tracker and official communication channels for updates on restoration efforts.

The cold front moved through the area overnight and into the early morning hours, bringing lower temperatures and elevated wind speeds.

Meteorological reports indicated that the front produced conditions capable of downing tree limbs and disrupting power lines in susceptible areas.

Local emergency management officials monitored outage levels and weather developments as restoration work continued.

CenterPoint Energy reminded customers to report outages, avoid downed power lines, and follow safety guidance during the restoration period.

The utility did not immediately provide a specific timeline for full restoration but reported ongoing progress as crews completed repairs.
