A Cleveland Independent School District (ISD) school bus crashed and overturned on FM 1010 on Monday morning, Aug. 11.
The bus, carrying students from Cleveland High School and Cleveland Ninth Grade Center, landed on its side in a ditch, prompting an immediate evacuation.
No serious injuries were reported among the students, but all were taken for medical evaluations as a precaution. Emergency responders assisted with the evacuation and ensured student safety at the scene.
Cleveland ISD officials quickly notified parents and guardians through direct contact and the SMART Tag system. Students cleared by medical personnel were transported back to their campuses, where school nurses continue to monitor their condition throughout the day.
Students requiring further medical attention will be taken to hospitals by emergency medical services or released to parents at the district’s North Service Center.
Local law enforcement and district leaders remain at the site to manage the situation and investigate the cause of the crash. Officials are examining factors such as bus condition and road conditions to determine what led to the accident.
The district is also evaluating the bus driver and involved staff as part of its standard post-incident procedures.
