Manila, Philippines — In a strategic move to enhance their lineup for the forthcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) conference, Cignal HD Spikers have announced the acquisition of veteran spiker Heather Guino-o and accomplished middle blocker Ethan Arce. This decision marks a significant step in the team’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen its competitive edge.

The recent signings reunite both athletes with coach Shaq Delos Santos, under whom they played during their collegiate careers. The reunion with Delos Santos is particularly noteworthy for Heather Guino-o, as it marks the first time they will work together since her stint with Far Eastern University during UAAP Season 79 in 2017.

Heather Guino-o, a 27-year-old outside spiker, brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for seven other PVL clubs, including Pocari, Tacloban, and Creamline. Her transfer from Capital1 comes at a crucial time for Cignal, as they seek to revamp their wing spiker rotation following the departure of Ces Molina and middle blocker Ria Meneses during the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference. Guino-o’s return to play alongside former teammates Gel Cayuna and Buding Duremdes is expected to provide the team with much-needed firepower and stability.

In addition, Ethan Arce’s inclusion in the team is poised to fortify Cignal’s frontline. Arce, who previously played under coach Delos Santos at the University of the Philippines, was released by Petro Gazz following their championship win in the All-Filipino tournament and their participation in the AVC Champions League. Her addition alongside Rose Doria-Aquino and Jackie Acuña is anticipated to enhance the team’s resilience and capability in upcoming matches.

The team expressed enthusiasm about these new additions, noting Guino-o’s scoring prowess and Arce’s strength and passion as vital components for future success. As Cignal HD Spikers prepare for the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft, where they will select sixth overall, these strategic roster changes underscore their commitment to reclaiming prominence in the league.

This rebuilding phase follows a disappointing end to their previous campaign, where they missed the All-Filipino quarterfinals after being ousted by Galeries and subsequently losing to ZUS Coffee in the play-in rounds. With these targeted reinforcements, Cignal aims to improve its performance and achieve greater success in the upcoming season.
