BTS met thousands of fans at the National Palace on Wednesday ahead of the group’s “ARIRANG” concert in Mexico City.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed the seven-member K-pop group — RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — during a courtesy visit at the palace located in Mexico City’s Zocalo Square.
According to reports, Sheinbaum announced during a press conference that BTS had arrived at the National Palace, prompting around 50,000 fans to gather outside the venue.
The group later appeared on a balcony alongside Sheinbaum and greeted fans gathered at the square.
“I don’t speak Spanish very well, but I will try. I’ve missed you. We’ve missed Mexico so much. The energy here is incredible,” member V said in a mix of English and Spanish.
RM also thanked fans and expressed excitement for the group’s upcoming performances.
BTS last performed in Mexico in 2017 during KCON. The group returned to the country as part of its “ARIRANG” world tour, which began in April at Goyang Stadium in South Korea.
The Mexico leg of the tour is scheduled at Estadio GNP Seguros on May 7, 9 and 10. Reports from The Korea Herald and the Mexico City Chamber of Commerce stated that the three sold-out concerts are expected to generate about $107.5 million in revenue.
The group is also scheduled to hold concerts in Manila in March 2027.
