BTS fans have raised questions after links to the K-pop group’s Grammy performances of “Dynamite” and “Butter” appeared inaccessible on the Recording Academy’s official website.
Fans, including members of BTS’ ARMY fandom and the social media page The Pop Core, shared screenshots on X showing that the videos for BTS’ 2021 performance of “Dynamite” and 2022 performance of “Butter” could no longer be accessed.
It was not immediately clear whether the videos had been removed from the website or were temporarily unavailable. The Recording Academy had not issued a statement on the matter at the time of publication.
The issue surfaced after BTS announced that it would not submit music for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
The group’s decision came despite the Recording Academy’s introduction of a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. Announced in June, the category recognizes performances across Asian pop genres, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said he was disappointed by BTS’ decision but respected the group’s choice.
Mason also addressed concerns surrounding the new category and said it was created to recognize the growth and diversity of Asian pop music rather than separate artists.
“The Asian Pop category was created to celebrate the depth, diversity and extraordinary growth of pop artistry coming out of Asia,” Mason said. “It’s never to divide, but to expand who is recognized by our 15,000 Grammy voters.”
BTS became the first K-pop act to receive Grammy nominations and has earned five nominations so far. The group has yet to win a Grammy.
