Amateur golfer Bobe Salahog showcased maturity beyond his years as he captured low medal honors at the PGT Q-School held at Splendido Taal Golf Club.
The 20-year-old from Bacolod fired a final-round two-under-par 70 to finish with a total score of 285, edging out Ryoto Furuka and Charles Lee by one stroke.
Despite treating the tournament as part of his training, Salahog held his composure in a tense final round to outplay a mix of local and international competitors. His win leads a group of 32 qualifiers advancing to the Philippine Golf Tour’s regular season.
South Korea’s Lee Song, who led after three rounds, slipped to fourth after a closing 74. Other notable finishers included Eric Gallardo in fifth, while several experienced players failed to make the cut.
Salahog admitted he did not expect to win but remained confident heading into the final day after staying within striking distance of the leaders.
The qualifiers will join top-ranked players such as Angelo Que, Keanu Jahns, and Fidel Concepcion for the opening leg of the Philippine Golf Tour season, set to begin next week in Cabanatuan.
