SEOUL, South Korea — Blackpink’s Jisoo will star in the upcoming romcom drama Boyfriend on Demand, set to premiere on Netflix on March 6.

Jisoo plays Mi-rae, a webtoon producer struggling with job burnout, who turns to a dating app called “Boyfriend on Demand” that creates virtual boyfriends based on users’ ideal types. With guidance from a dating manager played by Yoo In-na, Mi-rae goes on dates with several virtual boyfriends, including Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Jay Park, Kim Young-dae, and Lee Sang-yi.

Mi-rae develops a complicated relationship with her “overtime work buddy” Kyeong-nam, played by Seo In-guk, leading her to question what it means to have a perfect match.

Director Kim Jung-sik said the show showcases a “wide spectrum of romantic comedies” and highlights Jisoo’s versatility by differentiating her character in virtual and real-world settings.

Boyfriend on Demand is Jisoo’s first role in the romantic comedy genre. She previously appeared in Snowdrop, Newtopia, and the film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy.
