MANILA, Philippines — Filipino pop girl group BINI filed a cybercrime complaint on August 18 against an unidentified individual who allegedly edited and circulated a manipulated version of their food review video, resulting in online attacks against the group.
The complaint, filed with assistance from lawyer and film producer Joji Alonso, alleges that the original 25-minute video was spliced into a two-minute version that selectively featured negative reactions. According to BINI, the altered content led to personal attacks and grave insults directed at the members.
Alonso, who accompanied the group during the filing, stated that while freedom of speech is protected, it should not be used in a way that causes harm or damage to others.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the individual behind the edited video.
