SAN ANTONIO, Texas– Bexar County authorities have reinstated a 90-day burn ban in response to dry weather conditions that have increased the risk of brush fires.

This decision follows the expiration of the previous burn ban on January 27, leaving the county without restrictions for a brief period.

The current weather conditions are described as “above normal dry,” which officials say have heightened the potential for fires.

The reinstatement of the ban is a precautionary measure aimed at reducing the risk of fire outbreaks.

Local fire departments are on alert and have prepared additional resources to address any fires that may occur during the ban.

Firefighters are focusing on areas that are particularly vulnerable to fires, such as those with dense vegetation or open fields.

The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including burning brush, debris, and other materials that could spark fires.

Exceptions may be made for agricultural purposes, but these require special permissions from authorities.

Fire officials are encouraging residents to adhere to fire safety guidelines, including clearing dry vegetation from around structures and ensuring access to water for emergencies.

Meteorologists have predicted that the dry weather will likely continue through the spring, further elevating concerns.

Environmental groups and local leaders have supported the reinstatement of the ban, recognizing its role in protecting both people and the environment.

The ban also affects businesses that rely on outdoor burning for waste management or other processes. These companies will need to find alternative methods or apply for exemptions.

Bexar County is closely monitoring weather patterns and will adjust the burn ban as necessary based on future conditions.

The ban’s 90-day duration highlights the importance of community cooperation and vigilance during this period of heightened fire risk.
