CEBU CITY — Tashanah Balangauan won her second consecutive leg of the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour after holding off Dominique Gotiong in a close finish in the 15–18 girls’ division of the Alta Vista Championship on Wednesday.
Balangauan closed with a one-over-par 73 for a 54-hole total of 223, securing a one-stroke victory over Gotiong, who finished with a 74 for 224.
Balangauan sealed the win with a birdie on the par-5 16th hole, which proved decisive in the final-round duel.
In comments after the round, Balangauan said she focused on discipline and execution throughout the tournament and described the win as a learning experience despite not being at her best form.
In the boys’ division, Sebastian Sajuela won his first title after carding a 75 to finish with a 238 total, edging David Gothong by three strokes.
Sajuela took the lead late after Gothong posted consecutive double bogeys on holes 16 and 17, finishing with an 84 for a 241 total. Roman Tiongko placed third with a 250 after an 80 in the final round.
Sajuela said he focused on shot execution and maintaining composure in the closing holes.
In a separate event at the Summit Point Championship in Lipa City, Zach Guico won the boys’ 7–10 division, finishing with a 151 total after an 81, while Andrea Dee won the girls’ division with a 160 total after an 83.
Guico finished five strokes ahead of Zoji Edoc, who placed second with a 156 after an 80, while Dee also won by five strokes over Winter Serapio, who finished second at 165.
