Avaricio slips to 26th after 79 as Thai ace closes in on second crown

Chanelle Avaricio fell to a share of 26th place after carding a second-round 77 on Friday at the Tianjin Women’s Open at Songjiang Tuanbo Lake Golf Club in China.

Avaricio recorded five bogeys without a birdie for a 39-38 round, a decline from her opening-round 70. She posted a 36-hole total of 147, placing her nine shots behind leader Natthakritta Vongtaveelap entering the final round of the ¥800,000 tournament.

Vongtaveelap shot an even-par 72, combining three birdies and three bogeys, to reach a 138 total and maintain a one-stroke lead over fellow Thai player Pimnipa Panthong.

China’s Zixuan Xue and South Korea’s So Hyeon Kim both shot 70s to join a group at 141 alongside Kusuma Meechai (71), Ying Xu (72), and Xiang Sui (74).

Daniella Uy carded a 73 for a 148 total to tie for 36th and make the cut. Yvon Bisera shot a 72 to advance at tied 50th with a total of 150.

Mafy Singson missed the cut after posting a second consecutive 79 for a 158 total.
