GEORGETOWN, Texas — Dozens of partially constructed homes sit abandoned about 40 miles northwest of Austin, with some near completion and others reduced to concrete foundations. Work on the sites appears to have stalled for months.

Nearby, modular home builder Onx Homes Inc. vacated a 204,000-square-foot lease at Jackson Shaw Co.’s CrossPoint Business District in Georgetown.

The startup arrived in the Austin area in 2022 with high expectations, touting technology that could build homes in under 60 days and accelerate production amid a national housing shortage. The company was backed by roughly $120 million in investor funding.

Now, the future of Onx Homes in the region remains uncertain, leaving unfinished neighborhoods as a visible reminder of the stalled venture.
