MANILA, Philippines — Courtside reporter Apple David warned social media users against posting comments about her relationship with 18-year-old basketball player Chad Gammad, saying they could face legal consequences.
David, 33, issued the warning on Facebook on Monday, Aug. 10, amid backlash over her relationship with Gammad, which became public in May.
“Papunta na tayo sa exciting part,” David wrote, adding a balance scale emoji. She also reminded social media users that they could be held accountable for their posts.
“I already said it before that everyone on social media, personal or dump account are covered by the law and can be traced,” she wrote.
“Too late to delete comments now. I’ll see some of you guys soon. Keep safe everyone!” she added.
David later edited the post about a day after publishing it. The revised caption thanked followers for their engagement and said she had heard and appreciated their comments.
“Thank you for the engagement guys! Heard your comments. All of them are appreciated and noted. Keep safe everyone! All love,” the updated post read.
David did not specify whether she planned to file a complaint against any particular social media user.
Her relationship with Gammad has drawn criticism online, with some users alleging that she groomed the teenager. David previously rejected those allegations.
The public confirmation of their relationship came in May.
