Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales’ heartfelt portrayal of a long-term relationship’s struggles has resonated with audiences, as their film “The Loved One” has grossed P160 million at the global box office.

Directed by Irene Villamor, the film tells the story of Ellie (Curtis) and Eric (Rosales), whose initial attraction—sparked by Ellie’s belief in their astrological compatibility as a Gemini and Leo—blossoms into a long-term relationship. As time passes, the couple faces constant disagreements over their desires and priorities, leading to their eventual breakup. Years later, they cross paths again, reflecting that they had “just been too much for each other.”

Viva Films highlighted the film’s appeal to Filipino audiences both locally and abroad, saying, “We feel your yearning hanggang abroad! Maraming salamat ‘coz ‘THE LOVED ONE’ just reached P160 MILLION global gross! Iba mag-yearn ang mga Pinoy!”

The movie also features the popular OPM song “Multo” by Cup of Joe as its theme, adding to its cultural resonance. Viva Films CEO Vincent del Rosario noted that aside from the story and star power, lower cinema ticket prices contributed to its strong performance, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Supporting cast members include Catriona Gray, Jackie Lou Blanco, Luis Alandy, and Max Eigenmann. Beyond the Philippines, “The Loved One” is currently showing in the US and UAE, with upcoming releases planned in Canada, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia.
