MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala was voted the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Star of the Swing for the 2026 grass-court season after earning nearly 90% of the fan vote, the WTA announced.

Eala topped the fan poll ahead of Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova and Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Muchova.

The Filipino tennis player earned the recognition after a strong grass-court campaign highlighted by a historic run to the fourth round of Wimbledon, where she defeated Iga Swiatek before exiting the tournament.

The 21-year-old also captured her second WTA 125 singles title at the Birmingham Open with a victory over Czech player Nikola Bartunkova.

Earlier in the grass-court season, Eala defeated world No. 2 Elena Rybakina and advanced to the Berlin Open semifinals before losing to Noskova.

Her performance at Wimbledon lifted her to a career-high world ranking of No. 28.

Eala will next compete in the Mubadala DC Open, where she is entered in both the singles and doubles events as part of her preparations for the US Open.

Last month, Poland’s Maja Chwalinska received the WTA’s Star of the Swing recognition for the clay-court season, while Rybakina earned the honor for the Australian Open swing earlier this year.
